4. A bit of Army perspective

I was in for 3 years and 17 weeks. That was my contract. Front line. Cav scout.

To get TO basic from introduction (whatever it’s called) you have to be able to do 13 pushups. They can work on it from there.

I’ve finished 4 (of 5) marathons. 1.5 miles in 14 minutes is an 8:00 minutes per mile pace. I think ours was 2 miles in 16:30 for my age - 23. I made it. I’m just not fast. That was when I was young.

If that’s the immediate requirement, loosened or not, that’s a bit much. I’d think most cops couldn’t pass the running part. I’m not making a fat joke. You either do cardio regularly or you don’t and you can’t just turn it up.

An added wrinkle is tine structure. ICE works odd hours. We did PT first thing in the morning. Regular. Regiment is key.
