I joke but I do wonder what the requirements are and MORE IMPORTANTLY what the training is like. Did they follow Army basic training model? An hour of PT every morning will whip your ass in shape in a hurry. Thats a big adjustment for people getting off the couch or are even somewhat active.

(193,976 posts)I was in for 3 years and 17 weeks. That was my contract. Front line. Cav scout.
To get TO basic from introduction (whatever its called) you have to be able to do 13 pushups. They can work on it from there.
Ive finished 4 (of 5) marathons. 1.5 miles in 14 minutes is an 8:00 minutes per mile pace. I think ours was 2 miles in 16:30 for my age - 23. I made it. Im just not fast. That was when I was young.
If thats the immediate requirement, loosened or not, thats a bit much. Id think most cops couldnt pass the running part. Im not making a fat joke. You either do cardio regularly or you dont and you cant just turn it up.
An added wrinkle is tine structure. ICE works odd hours. We did PT first thing in the morning. Regular. Regiment is key.

(247,475 posts)And how many ICE applicants are ready for what you described from the beginning - and how much training do they receive?? And from what we've seen, their people skills are even worse. But that's not something that either Hegseth or his Commander in Chief either possess or value.
