is powered by the person sitting on the bench pumping the pedals. The person can pump faster or slower to speed up or slow down the piano roll. There will be a notation on the roll to tell how fast the original pianist played the piece so that you know how fast to pump the pedals. This actual piano roll was punched by a machine as Scott Joplin himself played the music.
