(28,156 posts)I used to be able to play that on the piano many moons ago. To see and hear that played on a guitar is mind blowing.

(4,648 posts)Back before crapal tunnel put an end to my piano playing I was going through a book of his rags. His specific instructions were, "It is never right to play ragtime fast". Weeping Willow was one of my favorites. Amazingly we have piano rolls of Scott Joplin's playing.

(4,648 posts)is powered by the person sitting on the bench pumping the pedals. The person can pump faster or slower to speed up or slow down the piano roll. There will be a notation on the roll to tell how fast the original pianist played the piece so that you know how fast to pump the pedals. This actual piano roll was punched by a machine as Scott Joplin himself played the music.

Gulbransen was a Chicago based company. You can determine the time a piano was built by the serial number on the sounding board.
