2. We have a 130-pound Leonberger who HATES having his nails cut

But he will tolerate a Dremel grinder doing the job. Funny how that works. The grinder makes a fairly loud whirring noise and it stinks pretty badly when his nails are being ground. But he's okay with that.

Maybe the feel of his nails being crushed within the clippers are the sound it makes when the clippers break through the nail really bothers him?
