8. I change my own air filter, use a "P touch" to print the date and mileage...

And put it on that air filter housing. I have never had a person try to tell me it needed to be replaced.

Disclaimer: I was a mechanic and service manager in auto repair shops and dealerships.

Most dealers and shops are honest, key word "most".
