Skin care is not unique to non gay individuals, I would think Ellen's wife Portia uses skin care products and probably Ellen as well. But yes by using Ellen and Portia in a commercial, as spokepersons they could very well entice the Gay community to use the product. And yes she was well know as a comedienne, but most of all she is a celebrity with a large following. Many celebrities are hired to endorse products that have nothing to do with their careers, but more for their notoriety and popularity.

I think that's what you were saying here....... "I want to think of this ad as a good thing for everyone and welcome the product even more strongly because of the ad."

Exactly the products owner's goal.
