He's not a great storyteller but has incredible style. He's a master of using light, shadows and colors.

My favorites of his are Deep Red, Opera, Phenomena (featuring a young Jennifer Connely), Fly on Grey Velvet, Tenebrae (Unsane), Stendhal Syndrome, and his most famous film, Susperia. Susperia is the first of The Three Sisters trilogy, but I did not care much for them. Susperia gets the nod because of its visual style and sound design, with music by The Goblins.

He also worked on Romero's Dawn of the Dead and Lamberto Bava's Demon films. These are very good, but not giallo.

Mario Bava is usually good. His son Lamberto Bava is alright. Lucio Fulci's films are insane. I would not call them good, but they are entertaining in a campy way.

There are probably a couple dozen more directors who were active in this genre, but these are a good start.
