4. It's what we used to call 'software'

Like, you got Photoshop for your computer; you went to the computer store and bought the software. It came in a box with a CD (or a number of 3½" floppiy discs, or even 5¼" if you're really fucking old) and a user's manual. It could cost anywhere from $19.99 for a game to $700 for Photoshop or QuarkXPress.

Maybe 10 years ago, they changed it so you download it from the internet to your "device." It's often free, but you have to subscribe to some apps (short for "applications" ).
