Never install a banking app! These are vectors from criminals to get into your accounts.

Whether Apple or Android/Google or otherwise. Vulnerabilities abound.

Like, you got Photoshop for your computer; you went to the computer store and bought the software. It came in a box with a CD (or a number of 3½" floppiy discs, or even 5¼" if you're really fucking old) and a user's manual. It could cost anywhere from $19.99 for a game to $700 for Photoshop or QuarkXPress.

Maybe 10 years ago, they changed it so you download it from the internet to your "device." It's often free, but you have to subscribe to some apps (short for "applications" ).

On your smart device, and it will appear there and look app-like.

Fuck, I don't even know where to find an app.

My use of computers and phones hasn't changed much since the 'eighties. I first signed onto the internet in the late 'seventies and still think browsing the web using Lynx at the San Francisco Public Library was the coolest thing ever, much different atmosphere than university computer labs.

I suppose Lynx would be called an "app" these days.

Yeah, I'm some kind of Luddite.
