Then again,

“They do want to stop the problems, and they’ve been open about it, and we gave them approval for a period of time,” Trump said. “You have close to 2 million people going back to buildings that have been demolished, and a lot of bad things can happen. So we want it to be — we want it to be safe. I think it’s going to be fine. Who knows for sure.”

Sounds like he thought better of them than they deserved. Have to be pretty foolish not to think of them as what they keep saying and showing themselves to be--zealots devoted to their Sacred Cause, eradication of most Jews (at least on 'holy land' and perhaps at least the reduction to sub-Jim-Crow status for those who remain) and the imposition of hardline Sunni-style shari'a law on groups that are subservient ... Non-pious Muslims, women, non-cis/non-chaste, non-Muslims. Of course, that's "intersectional" so some are more privileged that others and others more oppressed ... Mix in a hefty dose of Animal-Farm-like "we have more responsibility, so of course we get to live high on the hog." To use a bit of an inappropriate metaphor, but I'd note that often that kind of 'we deserve more' includes a fair serving of pious hypocrisy.

And yet, fools like Trump keep giving them the benefit of the doubt.

On the other hand, lawlessness would be a problem in that kind of situation (even as it is, a fair number of those starving were the vulnerable who had nobody to struggle on their behalf to get them what food there was, even as others could open food stands and profit from the aid).

For none are good.
