... in this context is a cynical euphemism, shorthand for total dominion over the lives of others. It manifests itself in religious zealots as well. Combine religion and politics, and we get the kind of hideous monsters we now see in the Christian Nationalist movement, and other so-called "conservative" sociopathic organizations, such as the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society. NONE of them are "good people", and they sure as hell ain't "Christian".
The Founding Fathers were steadfast in their insistence on the separation of church and state. Their denunciation of ANY suggestion that America was a "Christian" nation was quite vociferous, and left no room for doubt or debate.
Over the past ten months we have seen what unspeakable horrors have been visited upon those less fortunate by a power-mad, greedy psychopath and his malignant minions. It cannot be rationalized, and it cannot be forgiven. We cannot let these vile people poison our country any more than they already have. They MUST be stopped. NO. MORE. CAPITULATION! The importance of preserving democracy supersedes any self-centered concerns for re-election.
Republicans will never "come to their senses". They have always detested the very concept of democracy, and our history is replete with instances of their despicable perfidy, so we can flush any hope of that Pollyannic dream down one of Trump's golden toilets. They have no honor, or they wouldn't be Republicans, so don't ever make the mistake of trusting them any further than you can throw a dump truck.
