In reply to the discussion: Trump administration will require SNAP participants to reapply for benefits [View all]Jack Valentino

(to make up for the loss of deported farm workers, as one GQP politician stated)....
I never applied for SNAP benefits until I was 61 years old and without any employment whatsoever,
although I would have qualified for it earlier, I was living on savings....
I will be 63 next month, and decided to apply for Social Security at 62,
just after the last election, with a rather small benefit,
because I felt I had no choice.... Before my SS started,
I had been surviving for many months upon the cash I could get
from selling off ham radio equipment which I owned, before the SS kicked in---
dealing with utility "shutoff threats" etc etc
but when I applied for that small Social Security benefit,
I was taking my SNAP benefits into account---
and now I am going to lose them--- EVEN IF I "got a job" with 20 hours a week--
my income from that, combined with my S.S. benefits would now put me over the income limit,
as I understand it.... but I don't feel capable of working, even if anyone would hire me,
I think they would soon fire me--- and if they didn't I might drop dead within their establishment!
(Even though I made this S.S. decision after Trump had 'been elected'---
I had no clue that my SNAP benefits would be in doubt---
he CERTAINLY did not run on THAT, nor did any Republican say such,
that I was aware of...)
