I can't find any numbers for short-term intense exposure -- just that it "increases risk," of asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma,
with some qualifying as "slight increase" depending on concentration in the air and size of the fibers.

It sounds like longer term exposure ranges from something like 1 in 100 to 1 in 1000.

Re: Fiber size is related to the type of disease you are at risk for. Came across this blurb somewhere:

Both smaller and larger asbestos fibers can pose a significant health risk, though the risk profile differs: larger, longer fibers are more strongly associated with certain diseases like lung cancer, while smaller, thinner fibers can also cause serious illnesses like mesothelioma because they can penetrate deeper into the lungs. No amount of asbestos is considered safe, and exposure to all types of fibers should be avoided.
