What you're advocating is a false equivalence. Children do not have the same rights as adults until the age of majority.
I am not opposed to the current sliding scale for the age of majority. For instance, a young person can typically drive at 16; they can vote at 18; in many states (or most) they can own real property at 21.
Do you also believe children should be protected from seeing gay people kiss? Ban all porn and sex toys because a child might possibly see it and become addicted? Do you believe that most activities adults might engage in should be highly regulated to protect kids from some amorphous, ubiquitous Bogeyman?
