There was no chance the Rethugs would vote to restore ACA subsidies.

But prolonging the shutdown would at least delay SNAP benefits, for how long no one knows.

It would also allow more mass layoffs of federal employees, crippling services the American people depend on.

Senate Democrats ended the shutdown to limit the damage to our government and help people struggling to afford food.
