Postponing them, perhaps.

But actually, I would say that we are LIVING his dire predictions.

Well, some people are, in the poorest and most violent societies, anyway.

For example, certain people might not be so dead set on inhabiting and fighting over a small area of land in the Middle East, if there were plenty of resources available elsewhere. And the same sad tale is playing out in many other places.

Then there is the yet unrealized cost of our technology and lust for growth, driving other species to extinction at a rate not experienced before during human history. We don't even know what damage that will do, so I don't know why anyone would think we can avoid the cost forever - except perhaps by figuring out how to stop extincting other species so rapidly.

Or whatever, just load another bowl and pass it around, take a nice toke and hold it in your lungs for awhile. All these worries will go away ... (not necessarily saying you're smoking something, but a helluva lot of people are, or otherwise being deliberately oblivious to reality)
