21. On what planet would Colbert NOT be as good a senator as that flip flopping ass kissing self entitled Graham?

Respectfully, it's a shiny bauble to imply Graham is competent at any level other than being a human weather vane. If you've ever watched Colbert's monologue's and interviews, the man and his team are not idiots by a long shot. There's a message there that resonates. He's not just a smart ass like a Jimmy Fallon, he's who a Seth Meyers is afraid to be (who's also smarter than 60% of the Senate).

My point was the man is certainly capable and intelligent enough to do the job if he would so chose (which I highly doubt he'd put his family through the DC wringer). Certainly more intelligent than the slimeball they currently have and saying otherwise is just well, BS. And Colbert is a lot more popular than you may think in SC. I truly believe he could wipe the floor with Lindseed in his home state.
I don't think I'm grasping at straws with this thought experiment on any level.

And yes, tossing a celebrity out there in the political field just because they are popular doesn't work... or does it? I don't know, I never watched The Apprentice
