In reply to the discussion: Are you sure you want the Epstein files released? [View all]Metaphorical
(2,480 posts)Bill Clinton was in office a quarter century ago. He was so tarred by the Monica Lewinsky scandal that him being on that list would not surprise anyone. Frankly, if either Biden or Obama were on that list (by which I assume we're probably talking about accounting ledgers) then they probably do need to be held accountable, but I rather doubt that they are - Trump and the GOP would have used that as ammunition long before now.
Epstein was running a blackmail racket - make sure there were plenty of photos, videos, and recordings being taken of at events that featured attractive young women and men, alcohol, and drugs, then using these to extort blackmail payments and political favors. This is one of the oldest cons in the book, and no doubt it was also one of the tools that Trump took advantage of in his own climb to power. It was also why Epstein ultimately had to die - the evidence would clearly show Trump's fingerprints all throughout the collection of this blackmail trove.
One key point on Q-Anon type conspiracy theories (QACTs) - most such theories connect the dots, but it is the interpretation of those connections that often gets skewed because of a pronounced bias to want to justify your beliefs by making the evidence fit the conclusion rather than the other way around. This is what is being tested now, as all the Epstein evidence comes back to light. My suspicion is that the one conclusion that Trump DOES NOT want anyone to make is that he was an active partner with Epstein in building this blackmail scheme, because he most benefited from.
