and Comey represent the younger generation to me. (And there's another younger generation to follow.) I respect all three -- and I know, I know, many people here dislike Comey. But as an old man who has long studied the federal courts, and the prosecutors and defense, I consider those three as being as talented as any I've seen.

Brennan is of my generation. Like Fitzgerald and Comey, his people lived in the same area as mine, before coming to the US. My grandparents came in the 1879 wave, joining up with those that came before. My father was one of 14 siblings. So all levels of law enforcement and intelligence. Lots and lots of relatives spanning a few Clannas. Now, just my opinion, but I think Brennan's generation sometimes bent rules, though not so commonly as the generation before them. So unlike the other three, Brennan may have done that, but he can't be prosecuted for that, as it was national security. The DOJ is just looking to dog him.

I think the three are rigid enough in personality structure that they don't bend rules. I don't say that in a negative way. One of my uncles, a legendary investigator, did trainings for the FBI and CIA. He was outstanding in his ability to solve violent crimes. Yet I know the best investigators and prosecutors are often rigid, and the best investigators mildly paranoid. (Unfortunately, the very worst of the worst are, too.) Even a number of the psychologists and psychiatrists employed in those agencies tend to be.
