Its just the Convicted Felon is the current face of "the lie". The lies go back to Nixon, Reagan, the two Bushes, and all the sycophants and RW media mouthpieces.

In this instance, the "lie" is part of their core belief system since the Convicted Felon rode down the escalator, that they believe in a conspiracy theory that a worldwide child trafficking network is/was run by Democrats out of the basement of a DC pizza parlor (that BTW, has no basement) and that Jeffrey Epstein was at the center of it all. Release of the Epstein materials was promised by the Convicted Felon and RepubliCANTs for a decade, they promised that release of those materials would utterly destroy the Democratic Party, and now their boi and his flunkies are saying "it was all a hoax".

Many of the MAGAi have built their 'brands" around the Felon, whether its podcasters or the MAGAT running the Convicted Felon merch shop. Life has to be really sucking for those people now.
