Often, those who dropped out along the way still have a campaign debt as of the convention. Sometimes the nominee helps retire defeated rivals' debts in the interest of party unity. Sometimes the debt lingers on even after the general election. O'Malley retired his debt before the convention and with no help from the eventual nominee. Well done!
