Correct, many people in the US are working longer hours and weeks, doing without raises for years, facing big costs for healthcare if they have it and other rising expenses, just trying to get by day to day.

Most working people we know don't have 3-5 spare hours a day to read newspapers and online news to comprehend or get a handle on all that's happening politically in these crazy times. It's not from ignorance, but lack of time. That includes those who were English and humanities majors, readers lucky to find an hour or two a night to follow TV news on CNN or MSNBC, that's all.

They need to know what's happening structurally and policy wise, not the myriad stories of palace staff intrigue and twitter wars.
