1. My daughter and son-in-law saw a financial advisor this week.

Their two kids are 11 and 13, and they've been saving for college all along. The advisor told them 4 years of college for both of them would cost nearly $500,000 total. To say they're shell shocked is to minimize their reaction. And I'm pretty sure they'll both go on for advanced degrees.

They do very well but not THAT well.
