Using the Zoom App for face-time w/ Mom [View all]

The nursing home where Mom is has been VERY generous to help us get this done a couple of times every week. I can only imagine what life is like for the staff there... sick patients, fear for themselves. This on top of their regular (considerable) work load. They are not only heroes, but truly kind and generous people.

Mom looks pretty good. It is obvious that she is having trouble breathing, and she looks tired. But she looks alert. Today she was actually responding to us--at least she did when the CNA prompted her.

The report on her is that when she keeps her oxygen tube on, her oxygen levels are quite good--in the 90s. When she removes it, her level drops into the 80s. They check on her every few minutes to see that she keeps it on.

She doesn't have much of an appetite, but asks for water quite often and she is drinking it.

She sleeps a lot.

As far as sleeping and loss of appetite, the staff tells us that her body is fighting this virus, and that these symptoms are signs of that.

I don't like the way my dad looks. You can see the fear in his eyes and hear it in his voice.

I miss them both so much. Just want to wrap my arms around them and find some way to keep them safe.
