2016 Postmortem

Skokie was a largely Jewish community. The residents revolted, the Nazi’s were denied a permit and the march was cancelled. However, what I remember most clearly is that the “word on the street” was… if the march proceeded, the marchers would be taking their lives into their own hands, that there would be minimal police presence and that a few Nazi heads might get blown off by snipers. Interesting that there was a massive Mafia presence in the Chicago area at the time.
