8. An excellent place to start

That's a document that meets all the requirements of urban/identity politics and in the process presses every button of the people who live in fly-over country. But as a unifying document it leaves a lot to be desired. There's nothing wrong with the ideals expressed if the only objective is to rally the base, but I think we need to cast a broader net if we're to have any hope of retaking the House and some of the state legislatures that seem to have slipped irretrievably into Republican hands. I live in Washington, which has been a reliably blue state, but the Republicans now control the state senate and 4 House seats. Politics isn't about party platforms. It's about winning elections, something we haven't been very good at for some time now.
