New name up: Gabrielle [View all]

TROPICAL UPDATE: Odds have increased to 40% from the NHC that the tropical wave forms. Next name is #Gabrielle. Here are some thoughts as of Sunday evening:
1. The tropical wave just left Africa and now has the long trek ahead across the Atlantic. It will be near or north of the Lesser Antilles (Caribbean) into next week. That is represented by the cluster of lines and L's (low pressure).
2. Big current split in the models is whether this curves out to sea or heads more west. The European model majority of possible tracks has this staying in the Atlantic and then heading north as a fish storm. Google's new weather model, which has done a fairly good job so far, puts most of the models more west than the European model.
3. As a result, nobody should be calling this a fish storm yet. Too many uncertainities down the road and this hasn't even developed. It's too early to make a judgement call. Once it forms / if it forms, models will then be able to analyze it better.
I'll continue to keep you updated on WINK News with no hype, just the facts. For now we're just watching, that's it! Enjoy your Labor Day, have fun!
