9. "Confidence" means how much a scientist trusts his theory vs. other theories.

"Low confidence" only means that the scientist sees less probability for his theory to be true. There could be other explanations what caused exactly the same data, e.g. random events. It doesn't mean that a theory has been discarded or disproven.
