… but my son is 6’ 4” and wears a size 14, and doesn’t seem terribly big to me.

Of course, I once toured Ulysses Grant’s home in Galena, IL and noted his shoes looked like a size 5, so perhaps a size 14 guy 2000 years ago *was* really remarkable.
