There are Evangelicals who place a lot of feverish belief in a mistranslation from Genesis that reads: "There were giants in the Earth in those days."

The mistranslation changes the meaning of the phrase "There were important people in the Earth in those days." That translation is supported by the fact that it precedes a long list of the Genesis patriarchs.

Every once in a while, a hoax photograph will surface online purporting to show the skeletons of Biblical era giants. And the evilgelicals point to that and crow about how they're right to believe a literal interpretation of the Bible. Even a mistranslated one, evidently.
