2. In Greece there is a bird

called the figpecker, that eats of course, mainly figs . The Greeks pickle them , which produces of course , pickled figpeckers.

I have the recipe in an old Greek cookbook but am not inclined to try and find it right now.

Instead I will also contemplate the beauty of the world and the amazing capacity of the human species to create delicacies from the most varied substances and of such astounding names.
