Jesus was obligated to obey the laws under the old covenant. Yes the Israelites wanted to have a ruler and they suffered because of it. The old covenant was in effect until the death of Jesus and Pentecost.
It is very convenient for church authorities to abuse the "obey those in authority" which usually reveals itself as "we know what the proper interpretation of the Word is" ...along with the usual ...you are not qualified. This is a direct contradiction to "the Holy Spirit is able to lead you into all understanding" which implies that church leaders are no longer needed by those who are at least able to read the Word and have the trust and faith that God will grant the correct understanding. Others who could not read did indeed need to have Paul and the others letters read to them.
Eph 2:8 makes it very clear that you are saved by Grace. Any attempt to minimize that ...is religion ...and not a true relationship with Jesus. Religion is the system of laws and regulations to follow and the useless continual attempt to reduce ones sins or faults. What may be even worse is the idea that Grace must be balanced with law. Grace is not Grace when law is required.
Most so called christians and or bible believers are and have been poisoned by a toxic mixture of halve truths because of the wolves who take control of the understanding over their parishioners. Obviously tithes are very important to these wolves and they will repeatedly quote old testament and old covenant tithing laws to extort the money. They will even quote the widow lady giving all she had ...which is a cruel horrible thing to do to a widow. Remember she was under the old covenant too which did indeed require tithes. That however does not negate the cruelty of making a poor person pay tithes. Interesting that tithes also tie in with paying taxes since the Isrealites wanted a ruler and the ruler imposed taxes upon them.
Paying for salvation is not salvation ...it is a lie IMO. Even these nowaday wolves would not dare to say you must pay tithes to be "saved" however it often gets implied that you will piss off God if you don't. Apparently their g0d needs money and has an anger management problem. Absolutely ridiculous!
One of the biggest lies is the idea that a true believer will be better than the rest of the people. Not a chance of that. No one will ever be free of ones own sins and or faults in the full view of other people but only in the view of God are true believers already sinless and blameless ...and that only happens because of the Grace of Jesus the Messiah.
