The 1970s Broncos had a Dana 20 transfer case, which sent power to a Dana 44 front axle and back to that which is next to impossible to break, a Ford 9 inch rear end. I'm certain even if the new Broncos have axles similar to the current 8.8 inch installed in recent F150s, these axles and the new transfer case (or transaxle) are not nearly as stout as the transfer case and axles installed in its predecessors.
