Butt patting, no matter my personal feelings about it, have been going on all the way to the Babe Ruth silent clips.
If they had the films, there would be examples of this after Honus Wagner stole home or Walter Johnson struck out the side.
Either there's something we don't know or there's an out-of-control zealot at work.
