about my years at NASA Ames Research Center. Ames was located on an active Naval Air Station ( Moffett Field ) in Sunnyvale, Ca when I worked there. That meant the base had marines manning the entrance and doing patrols around the perimeter. The marines were always professional and never bothered the civilians that work on the base.
Then about 4 or 5 years after I start... the Navy left the base and they replaced the marines with private security. What assholes. random stops to look for drugs, tickets for minor infractions ( I got one for rolling through a stop sign which I could not do because my car gear box lost synchromesh ). all kinds of crap because the company wanted to "prove they were needed" by the number of incidents reported. These traffic tickets are not local or state... federal traffic tickets... meaning no traffic court, regular federal court. I am in the defendants box with a large number of drug dealers and murder suspects in orange prison jump suits. Judge calls my case ( there is no pay a fine and walk out )... and the judge was already tired of these traffic tickets from NASA... she asked me "you won't roll through the stop signs right" and I said no your honor... she said case dismissed and then proceeded to ream out the US district attorney for a good 5 minutes "I don't want to see any more of these cases in my courtroom, do you understand that!".
Having ICE goons guard a marine base is the single most stupid thing I've heard in the last 24 hours.
