I’m fully on board with treating any mechanical trigger aids such as bump stocks or trigger cranks as strictly as machine guns. That’s one of the ways he was able to fire so many rounds in ten minutes. That does not mean that the weapons he used were assault rifles. Blurring the definition of assault rifle adds no clarity to the issue of whether and how to regulate private ownership of semi automatic magazine fed “tactical sporting rifles”.
