She used her fame and the paparazzi that surrounded her to show that people with AIDS could be touched and hugged and treated as suffering humans rather than pariahs. She did the same for the cause of landmine clearance.

Yes, Di had real flaws and limitations, and she was self-absorbed, immature, and desperate for attention, but she had a good heart and tried to use her fame to spotlight worthy causes. She was ill-used by her husband and his family.

Meanwhile, airhead clotheshorse Nancy Reagan promoted the disastrous "Just Say No" campaign as a proper substitute for a sane, effective drug policy.
