12. I've been there, too, my friend. It's been over 2 years for me, but I still hurt when I think of my pup

My good friend gave me a cat (her daughter rescues cats) and he couldn't be sweeter or more affectionate, but I often call him by my dog's name. And of the dogs in my life, he's only one of two that I got as a puppy, the other pup my Dad got us when I was 11, in between I found dogs from rescue and I loved each one, often I had two. My Jack was 16 and this is the longest I've been without a dog in my life. And I remember hearing that it's hardest to lose a pet since they're always with you. So I understand, my friend.
