You are right about that -- there is a LOT of research on cancer as a metabolic disease relating to sugar, and specifically citing Metformin as a virtual "miracle drug" for some cancers!

My blood sugar has always been weird, tending toward low (runs in my family) but wondered if it related. Doctors don't want to discuss things that are so off the proven path (and hypoglycemia has no pharmacological treatment, at least not in the US). Short of Metformin, I did find an herbal supplement called Berberine that is said to regulate blood sugar, for what it's worth.

There are several books about "starving cancer," although again, my particular doctor said, "The problem with 'starving cancer' is that you starve yourself when you really need a balanced diet!" which tells me he didn't read the studies.
