In reply to the discussion: Call for co-hosts [View all]Violet_Crumble
(36,313 posts)For the record, I don't have anyone at DU on ignore, and have no intention of doing so....
Why should a co-host step down because of the behaviour of someone else, which is something they can't control? If there's some personal crap going on and DUer A puts Duer B on ignore, and DUer B just happens to be a host of a group DUer A posts in, then DUer A can suck it up for all I care, because it's got nothing to do with me and I don't see why the hosting of any group should be affected by someone who could be the most sensitive poppet in the world and have an ignore list as long as a roll of toilet paper. I'm a host both in a group and two forums, and I've got two DUers ignoring me, and I don't know or care who they are, and have no idea if they post in any group or forum I'm a host of...
As to the technicalities of what happens if a host needs to communicate with someone who's got them on ignore, that's not an issue in groups with several co-hosts, and definitely not a problem in the forums. If the person who's ignoring a host is causing problems in the group, they'll be aware of it because of the responses of others in the group, probably long before a host gets involved. Plus, even if someone makes some big announcement that they've got someone else on ignore, only the admin and the person saying it know if it's true or not. So, when it comes to hosts or members who might have someone on ignore or have someone claiming they're ignoring someone else, let's just not be bothered about it, as it has no effect at all on how a group is run or the experience anyone else has in that group...
Back to the subject of this thread, I noticed the other day that iverglas was the only nominee who'd accepted hosting who's been left off as a host. I hope it's rectified sooner rather than later...
