7. No the problem with fundamentalists is that they are ahistorical

They take the original, be it political, philosophical, or religious, movement and remove it from it's historical context.

So, they ignore that Paul wrote different things to the Corinthians about women because only disreputable women spoke in public there than he did to Ephesus. Moreover, Jesus spoke in Aramaic to a Jewish audience. The people heard what he said from a Jewish context, that most Christian groups ignore.

Further, fundamentalists do not allow the movement to change over time. They ignore the fundamentals about live and justice and proof text selection to hate the people they want to hate.

People like Jimmy Carter lived real Christianity (I try to do the same).

People like the hateful reverend twist real faith just as badly as the jihadist pervert Islam. Hatred based on religion is a perversion of all the teachings of every major world religion with the possible exception of Shintoism which believes that non Japanese people are lesser.
