They abducted the people. They wounded the people. They took the people to the hospital. I doubt very much that treating the wounded was on their minds - they took the healthy hostages there too. What they should or should not have done has a longer history to it than you pretend, and it is not the issue.

They made the hospital a legitimate military target. Note that I am not asking you whether or not they should have done this. They did.

And guess what: I am standing on my head, rubbing my tummy and singing Dixie as I am posting this, and detaining hostages in a hospital is still a violation of international law. And, BTW, the hospital personnel who were aware of this and didn't report it are complicit in violating international law.
