The Euro started life on January 1, 1999, worth about $1.16. Then it quickly fell to below parity and bottomed out at about 84 cents in November 2000. Then it rose again from the dead and achieved parity in December 2002 and from thence forward it was always superior to the dollar. Until now. (Numbers and dates approximate from reading the graph and using mousekeys).
