Secretary of State John F. Kerry headed to Ukraine on Monday night to show support for the interim leadership in the face of Russian military intervention.

But Kerry made a detour on his way -- stopping in New York to meet his hours-old granddaughter.

Kerry's daughter Alexandra gave birth earlier in the day. The baby had not been named by Monday night.

Kerry dashed to the hospital while his plane refueled at JFK Airport.
