29. It wasn't up to Kerry to defend Susan Rice. That was Obama's job

Bottom line is they were both under consideration, and Obama couldn't decide who he wanted. This is according to all reliable news I've seen all night. John Kerry defended Susan Rice just fine. The President should have named the person he wished to nominate a lot earlier instead of letting Rice dangle in the wind like that.
