12. your use of "hawkish"

A few weeks ago, a guest (I think it was a person w diplomatic background) responded to Chris Matthews 'concern' about Hillary's hawkishness. The guest said, paraphrasing but fairly accurate, "I don't know what to do with a word like hawkish. I think Hillary is strong. She is strong enough to stand up for our country when she needs to. I don't consider that 'hawkish.'"

That is how I look at it too. I think that everyone gets lulled into using right-wing words that do not really describe Hillary. Does she go about talking how we should go to war at the slightest provocation? No. She always says that war is a last resort, to be used only after all diplomatic approaches have failed and then only when the situation actually requires military action. One vote on Iraq (and it was not a vote to go to war!) does not make her a hawk.
