... uses his hands to "tap-out" in mid-air the individual syllables of the words he's speaking.
It's also odd to see this other thing he does... it's difficult to describe... it's as if he's visualized a row of shelves in front of him that are filled with an array small items (spice jars?) ... then with his hands, he'll choose and "grab" individual invisible items (that presumably represent the words and phrases he's speaking).
I get so fixated and distracted by wondering what he actually "sees" and wondering where he's going to "grab" next, that it's difficult to pay attention to what he's trying to say.
Heh! And to think that people say that Hillary has poor public speaking skills! GMAFB!
