Central Florida man shot by hunter who mistook him for a turkey, police say [View all]

BUNNELL, Fla. — A hunter was accidentally shot Sunday in Bunnell.

"We was turkey hunting and I see what I thought was a gobbler and he had a decoy set up and I didn't know he was there," said the 911 caller.

According to Bunnell police, it happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Old Haw Creek Road.

First responders found a man who had been shot in the head and torso with a birdshot. The victim was hospitalized and is expected to survive. ...............(more)
