5. I've known this woman for over 20 years, and she has always been so accepting on her journey

Anyone who has ever been a parent knows their kids, straight or gay, think they are the only persons in this story but boy howdy are the parents in for a ride.

I've only met her son a couple of times, but from the day he decided he wasn't a lesbian but a man, she has referred to him as "my son." Such grace, such grace. All she has ever wanted is for him to be at peace in himself.

He's been living with MS for a very long time now, and is in assisted living in another state. This new ruling unfortunately will not change that, but what a difference it will make for so many other people's lives.

I'll be seeing her tomorrow with some other friends as we take a day-trip to Ojai for the Lavender Festival, and we will celebrate the victories of this week together.
